If you have any questions please contact us at learning@place2be.org.uk.

At Place2Be, we believe no child or young person should face mental health problems alone. We're excited to offer a Summer 2023 Work Experience Programme to students like you that share our passion for children's mental health.

We want our work experience programme to be as inclusive as possible and have two different pathways you can choose from:

  • Monday 3 July to Friday 7 July at our London offices (we will cover your lunch expenses)
  • Monday 10 July to Friday 14 July online.

Our programme

During the programme, you will be given the opportunity to:

  • shadow and assist Place2Be team members with tasks and projects that contribute to our mission to improve children's mental health.
  • participate in workshops and training sessions that will develop your skills and understanding of children's mental health and working in the charity sector.
Getting a behind-the-scenes view of a company dedicated to improving people’s lives was a truly unique experience Place2Be work experience student

Taking part in Place2Be's Summer Work Experience Programme is a great way to:

  • add valuable experience to your CV
  • show your commitment to improving the wellbeing of children and young people
  • demonstrate your ability to work in a professional setting.

If you're a student at one of our partner schools, you'll be given priority on this programme. So please don't hesitate to apply if you have Place2Be at your school!

FAQs

No. You don't have to be a student at a Place2Be partner school to apply for our work experience programme, but students who do will get priority places.

We've designed our work experience programme to give students aged 16 to 18 an insight into what it's like working in the charity sector. Unfortunately, the programme won't lead to a job at Place2Be.

We do, however, encourage all applicants and participants to keep an eye on our current vacancies, where we will post any entry-level positions and internship opportunities we have available.

Place2Be's London office is located 175 St John St in Clerkenwell.

Travelling to our office is super easy. Our closest station is Farringdon, which is served by the following:

  • Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines on the London Underground
  • National Rail Thameslink route, which gets you to St Pancras International in 4 minutes
  • Elizabeth line, which gets you to Paddington in 8 minutes.

We are able to provide expenses for travel within London zones 1-6.

Your working day on our work experience programme will run from 10am to 4pm. This will include an hour-long lunch break, which you are free to take on our rooftop terrace.

We will run our online programme with the same working pattern.

Our work experience programme only includes working with our support teams. Currently, we are unable to offer work experience directly in our schools.

We do have a Taster Day that gives you an insight into Place2Be's work in schools and how we support children and young people through talking, creative work and play.

You will be working with one or more of our support teams during your work experience placement. This might include:

  • fundraising
  • marketing, communications and digital
  • mental health learning workforce
  • people and culture.

You will cycle through a number of our teams during your week of work experience. Unfortunately, we're unable to place you in a particular team for the whole week.
