Being Ourselves Film News Story

BAFTA Kids and Place2Be launch ‘Being Ourselves’ film!

Twelve children and young people who entered BAFTA Kids’ selfie competition had their winning drawings animated and turned into a special film about ‘Being Ourselves’.

Launched for Children’s Mental Health Week 2018, the competition was all about ‘Being Ourselves’. Our friends BAFTA Kids encouraged children to celebrate what makes them individual by drawing their ‘selfie’ and writing a few lines about why it’s good to celebrate ‘Being Ourselves’.

A special panel of judges including TV presenters Pui Fan Lee, Sam Homewood, Chris Jarvis and Ben Shires then picked twelve winning entries to send to the BAFTA-winning animation studio Karrot Entertainment, the creators of Sarah & Duck, who brought them to life.

The film also features voiceovers from the twelve winners, talking about their special qualities – from cooking to comedy – and why they think being different is a positive thing.

You can watch the film below, as well as taking a look ‘behind the scenes’ of the animation process.
