Children’s Mental Health Week assembly – with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy

Children’s Mental Health Week assembly – with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy

With less than a month to go until Children’s Mental Health Week 2021, Place2Be has teamed up with BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy to create a free assembly on the theme of Express Yourself.

The assembly will be available to all schools and families at 9am on Monday 1 February. It will feature pupils and well-known faces discussing the theme of Children's Mental Health Week and how children and young people can get involved at home. It will be hosted by Blue Peter's Lindsey Russell and CBBC Presenter and Place2Be Ambassador Rhys Stephenson.

As most pupils are now home, the assembly will provide an easy way to bring the nation's children together (virtually) with a positive message about the power of creative self-expression. Famous faces and contributors will also be taking part live from their homes.

Sign up for email alerts to be the first to hear about the assembly and other Children's Mental Health Week news when it goes live.

BAFTA will also launch its annual Young Presenter Competition during the assembly. The competition aims to find exciting new on-screen talent aged between 7 and 14. Entrants will be asked to respond to the theme 'Express yourself…' this year. Previous winners of the competition have gone on to host BAFTA red carpets and events throughout the year, as well as securing presenting slots for Sky News FYI. Tune in to the assembly and find out how to enter. More information is available on the BAFTA website.

Additional resources

We have also added some new resources to help families and schools take part in the week.

All the ideas in the resource packs can be adapted for school, home-schooling, online lessons or independent learning.

The new additions include Welsh language versions of our primary and secondary packs, quick and easy activity ideas that families can try at home and top tips for parents and carers to help children express themselves.

To help further spread the word, we also have our social media toolkit, which includes free graphics and pledge cards to help you show your support for the campaign.
