Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be inspires pupils in Scotland
The Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be has launched its autumn term with two inspiring visits to primary schools in Scotland this week, offering pupils a unique opportunity to explore the world of film, games and television while supporting their emotional wellbeing.
The Young BAFTA Roadshow, a collaboration between BAFTA and Place2Be, visited schools in Glasgow and Aberdeen on the 24 and 25 September to engage pupils in a day of creative workshops, assemblies, and conversations with professionals from the creative industries. The initiative is designed to raise aspirations, promote creative skills, and encourage confidence among primary-aged pupils in underrepresented communities.

Hosted by television presenters Ben Shires and Kia Pegg, the events featured special appearances from Kara Gillespie, BAFTA Young Presenter winner 2024, and Harry Petch, a BAFTA Young Game Designers finalist and games designer. Pupils took part in behind-the-scenes assemblies, games design and presenting workshops, as well as roundtable discussions where they could ask questions and share their ambitions.
The Young BAFTA Roadshow’s interactive format helps pupils understand the wide range of careers available in the screen industries, while also reinforcing the importance of teamwork, creativity, and resilience. Each visit is tailored to the school community, with activities designed to complement existing wellbeing and enrichment programmes.
The Young BAFTA Roadshow continues to grow in reach and impact, offering pupils across the UK the chance to connect with role models and discover new creative possibilities for their futures. This autumn, our next visits will be in Durham, Cardiff and Nottingham.
