Now in its 75th year of serving the local community, the school planned a number of special moments to reflect on its legacy, and the Young BAFTA Roadshow was a standout event in the programme. Situated in a culturally diverse part of North London, Prince of Wales Primary School offers a vital source of support for many families. Experiences such as the Young BAFTA Roadshow are unique, which made the opportunity to engage with BAFTA presenters and creatives particularly impactful.

The BAFTA Place2Be was an amazing experience for our pupils. The assembly was fantastic and gave children the opportunity to asks questions about how their favourite shows were produced. As well as allowing them to practise presenting skills. It has inspired some children to consider presenting as a career. Thank you BAFTA and Place2Be for the amazing opportunity! Susan Paddon, Assistant Head Teacher at Prince of Wales Primary School

Hosted by presenters Ben Shires and Esme Todd, alongside guest speaker Joy Gingell from Blink Industries, the day gave pupils the chance to meet inspiring figures from across the screen industries — sparking creativity and widening horizons.

More about the Young BAFTA Roadshow

The Young BAFTA Roadshow is a partnership between us and BAFTA, designed to inspire Key Stage 2 pupils through hands-on, creative encounters with professionals from across the screen industries. At Prince of Wales Primary School, our onsite team works closely with school staff, children, and families to provide essential mental health and emotional wellbeing support.

For many pupils, this Young BAFTA Roadshow offers them a space to feel seen, be creative, and imagine new possibilities for their future.

Nurturing children’s creativity is crucial for mental wellbeing and offers a huge variety of transferable skills. We believe it has a vital place in the school curriculum. This wonderful initiative champions a more inclusive screen industry by providing inspiration from an early age and highlighting the variety of careers available.
