What is Express Yourself Day?
Express Yourself Day: Dress, Bake, Create is our national day of fundraising and celebration during Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week. Thousands of people across the UK will come together to express themselves, spark conversations about mental health, and raise vital funds for children and young people.
Every one of us is unique, and we all have our own ways of expressing who we are. Whether it's through our style, creativity, hobbies, opinions, or the way we connect with others, everyone deserves to feel seen, heard and valued. It’s your chance to celebrate what makes you, you, while creating a safe space for others to be their authentic selves. Whether you choose to dress up, bake, create, challenge yourself, or fundraise in your own unique way, every action helps support children's mental health.
No matter how you Express Yourself, your way is the right way!

Who can take part?
Anyone can get involved with Express Yourself Day, the more the merrier!
Do I need to take part during Children's Mental Health Week (1 – 7 February 2027)?
Not at all. While many supporters choose to host their Express Yourself Day on Friday 5 February 2027 (our national day of fundraising), if this date doesn’t work for you, you can host your event at any time that does.
How can I collect donations for my fundraiser?
You can ask everyone to make a donation to take part, collect sponsorship, or fundraise in any way that suits your group. We'll provide guidance and resources to help you get started.
Is there a minimum fundraising target?
No, you can set your own target. Every pound raised helps Place2Be support more children and young people with their mental health. The more you raise, the more people we can help, the sky is the limit! Our collective fundraising target for 2027 is £100,000. You can help us reach this goal!
What resources will I receive?
When you sign up, you'll receive free fundraising materials, activity ideas and practical guidance to help make your Express Yourself Day a success. If you need any further resources, contact our team!
Where can I find support if I have questions?
Our friendly fundraising team is here to help. If you have any questions about planning your Express Yourself Day, fundraising ideas or paying in your donations, simply get in touch and we'll be happy to support you: hello@childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk.
We have very little time. Is Express Yourself Day difficult to organise?
Not at all. Express Yourself Day is designed to be quick and easy to organise. Whether you're planning weeks in advance or looking for a last-minute fundraising activity, you can take part with minimal preparation.
We have a limited budget. Can we still take part?
Absolutely. Express Yourself Day can be as simple or creative as you like, and most activities can be organised at little or no cost. The focus is on having fun, expressing yourself and raising awareness and funds for children's mental health.
Can we combine Express Yourself Day with other Children's Mental Health Week activities?
Absolutely! Express Yourself Day works brilliantly alongside assemblies, wellbeing activities, classroom discussions, creative projects and other Children's Mental Health Week events. It's a great way to bring your celebrations together while raising vital funds for Place2Be.
How your fundraising will make a difference
Every penny and pound you raise for Place2Be goes directly towards providing mental health support services in schools.
could pay for a drop-in counselling session where children can refer themselves to see a mental health professional.
could pay for a child to share their thoughts and feelings in a one-to-one counselling session.
could support two children to attend their first one-to-one counselling session to get the support they need.
