Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be concluded 2025 with an inspiring visit to a Nottingham school
Pupils at Robin Hood Primary School in Nottingham enjoyed an unforgettable day of creativity and career discovery as the Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be arrived for its final stop of 2025. This nationwide initiative, delivered in partnership between BAFTA and Place2Be, brought the magic of film, television, and games into the classroom while promoting emotional wellbeing.
Hosted by Newsround presenter De-Graft Mensah and CBBC presenter Kia Pegg, the event gave pupils a chance to connect with the world of storytelling and creative design. Through a series of interactive sessions, including a behind-the-scenes assembly, a game design workshop, and a presenting masterclass, students were encouraged to think about the skills and opportunities that shape the creative industries.
Ahead of the visit, pupils took part in a creative competition, with winners announced during the assembly, which was a highlight that added excitement and recognition to the day. Year 5 pupils also engaged in a games workshop to learn more about designing and creating games. These ideas will also be eligible for the BAFTA Young Game Designers competition, offering them a pathway to develop their ideas further.
For Robin Hood Primary School, the visit was more than a special occasion – it was a unique opportunity to support pupils’ emotional development and broaden their horizons. The Young BAFTA Roadshow opened doors to careers many pupils had never imagined, from storytelling and journalism to game design and production.
The Young BAFTA Roadshow focuses on schools in communities that may have fewer chances to engage with the arts. Each visit has tailored events to ensure every child feels included and inspired.
This Nottingham event marked the final stop of the 2025 series. The partnership between BAFTA and Place2Be will continue in 2026, starting with Place2Be's official Children’s Mental Health Week in February.
