Bukhman Philanthropies partners with Place2Be to support children and young people’s mental health

Place2Be is proud to announce a new partnership with Bukhman Philanthropies to enhance children’s mental health and wellbeing in schools across the UK.

Bukhman Philanthropies reflects the philanthropic aspirations of Dmitri and Daria Bukhman, driven by their passion and commitment to creating meaningful change and building a brighter collective future. They have pledged £450,000 over the next three years towards Place2Be’s whole school approach, working with schools and parents to understand the needs of their children and young people, providing targeted support and ensuring that more children and young people receive the help they need to build lifelong coping skills and thrive.

In line with our new 2025-2030 strategy, their donation will help us to continue delivering vital services in schools, while laying the groundwork for a more connected, resilient future by expanding Place2Be’s impact deeper into communities. We work with over 650 schools across the UK, especially in areas of high deprivation, supporting children and young people with their mental health. We know that early intervention is crucial in equipping children and young people with the tools, skills and strategies to thrive. Schools are safe spaces where children can open up about their concerns; our school-based services receive referrals from a variety of sources, including parents, teachers, pastoral staff and self-referrals, ensuring children receive the right support from the right service at the right time. Our unique self-referral system Place2Talk had over 40,000 children seeking support in 2024 alone.

Bukhman Philanthropies is honoured to partner with Place2Be to support the vital work they do in improving children’s mental health. We believe schools are uniquely powerful environments where young people form meaningful relationships with trusted adults. When a child is struggling, school should be a place where they can access the care and support they need. Research shows that students are six times more likely to complete mental health treatment when it’s delivered in a school setting. With this in mind, we hope our long-term support will help ensure that high-quality mental health services reach the children who need them most. Daria Bukhman, Co-Founder and Chair of Bukhman Philanthropies
Place2Be is delighted to receive this incredible support from Bukhman Philanthropies. We pioneered the Whole School Approach 30 years ago, and have proven the difference this can make, but there is still more to do. In these incredibly challenging times for the economy and for young people growing up today, and with 1 in 5 children now experiencing mental health difficulties, our work matters now more than ever and is rooted in the belief that when we come together — across education, health, local authorities and beyond — we can drive systems change. This work would not be possible without the partnership of supporters like Bukhman Philanthropies who share our vision for the next generation of children and young people.
