Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be to empower young people in Darlington
Pupils at Timothy Hackworth Primary School enjoyed a day of inspiration and creativity as the Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be arrived in Darlington, Durham.

The BAFTA Roadshow is a collaboration between BAFTA and Place2Be, and is designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and support emotional wellbeing through engaging activities led by professionals from the screen industries.
The BAFTA Roadshow was hosted by Kia Pegg, known for her roles in Saturday Mash-Up and The Dumping Ground, alongside Harrison Gunn, BAFTA Young Presenter finalist and ambassador. Together, they guided pupils through a series of interactive sessions that encouraged self-expression, teamwork, and curiosity about creative careers.
For Timothy Hackworth Primary School, the visit offered more than just a fun day – it’s a chance to reinforce the school’s commitment to nurturing the whole child. By combining creative exploration with conversations around resilience and aspiration, the Young BAFTA Roadshow supports the emotional development of pupils while opening doors to new possibilities.

The Young BAFTA Roadshow is part of a wider initiative to reach schools in communities that may have fewer opportunities to engage with the creative industries. Each visit is tailored to the school’s needs, ensuring that every child feels seen, heard, and inspired.
Upcoming Roadshow stops include schools in Cardiff and Nottingham, continuing a nationwide effort to champion creativity and wellbeing in education.
