Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be to spark creative ambition in Cardiff students
Pupils at Moorland Primary School experienced a day of creativity, confidence-building, and career discovery as the Young BAFTA Roadshow with Place2Be arrived in Cardiff. This inspiring initiative, delivered in partnership between BAFTA and Place2Be, is designed to help young people explore creative industries while supporting their emotional wellbeing.

The Roadshow was hosted by Newsround presenters Shanequa Paris and De-Graft Mensah, who led pupils through a series of interactive sessions, including a behind-the-scenes assembly, a game design workshop, and a presenting masterclass. These activities were designed to encourage self-expression, teamwork, and curiosity about the world of film, television, and games.
Joining the hosts was BAFTA Young Game Designer finalist and alumni Jack Rafferty, whose journey from student to games industry creative offered a powerful example of what’s possible when young people are given the chance to explore their talents. Jack’s presence gave pupils a first-hand look at how passion and perseverance can lead to exciting careers in the creative sector.
For Moorland Primary School, the visit was more than a fun day – it was a meaningful opportunity to support pupils’ emotional development and broaden their horizons. By engaging directly with professionals from the creative industries, students gained insight into creative roles they may never have considered, from storytelling and design to journalism and production.

The Young BAFTA Roadshow is part of a wider effort to reach schools in communities that may have fewer opportunities to engage with the creative arts. Each visit is tailored to the school’s needs to ensure that every child feels empowered and inspired.
The 2025 Young BAFTA Roadshow will conclude in Nottingham next month. Continuing in 2026, Place2Be and Young BAFTA will reunite for Place2Be's Children’s Mental Health Week in February.
