The Young BAFTA Roadshow is designed to introduce pupils to careers in television, film, and games, with a focus on confidence-building, creativity, and inclusion. Today’s visit featured special guests across the screen industries, Sam Homewood and Shanequa Paris, alongside actor Jessica Ransom, who engaged pupils across Key Stage 2 in sessions aimed at developing curiosity and encouraging participation.

The visit offered a welcome and uplifting opportunity for pupils and staff to come together in a spirit of hope, creativity, and shared joy. The day’s activities promoted confidence and optimism while celebrating the imagination and individuality of each child.

Allen Edwards Primary School serves a diverse pupil population in the London Borough of Lambeth. Its long-standing emphasis on inclusion and child-centred education is further supported by Place2Be’s in-school mental health services. Working closely with staff and leadership, Place2Be delivers targeted therapeutic support within a whole-school approach to emotional development. Today’s visit helped build on this work by offering a memorable learning experience focused on creative expression and aspiration.

Inspiring the next generation of budding creatives, designers and content creators is central to BAFTA’s purpose, so we are thrilled to be partnering with Place2Be on our national roadshow, bringing talent to regions across the UK to showcase the power of our brilliant screen industries. Lisa Prime, Head of Children & Young People’s Programme at BAFTA

The Young BAFTA Roadshow, now in its ninth year, brings industry practitioners into primary schools in communities where access to creative opportunities is limited. The initiative, developed in partnership with Place2Be, complements the charity’s broader mission to support mental health in education and improve outcomes for children through early intervention and positive engagement.

With the school term coming to an end for England schools, the Young BAFTA Roadshow will pick up again in autumn with visits to Scotland, Wales and beyond.
