Our counselling qualifications bursaries

Our counselling qualifications bursaries

We want our counselling training courses to be as accessible as possible.

Are you passionate about training to work therapeutically with children and young people but need some help to fund your training? Our bursary funding is here to support you. We offer bursaries for our:

  • Introduction to Child Counselling Skills (Level 2 Award)
  • Intermediate Child Counselling Skills (Level 3 Certificate)
  • Level 4 Diploma in School-Based Child Counselling
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children in Schools.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Place2Be bursary, you must:

  • be a UK resident for the last 5 years
  • have a total annual household income of less than £35,000 for courses in London and less than £30,000 for courses outside of London (see our FAQ’s for guidance on calculating your household income)
  • have a level of education that is no higher than degree level (Level 6)
  • have a genuine interest in qualifying as a child counsellor
  • meet the entry requirements for your chosen course (see entry requirements on each course information page)
  • be able to attend all relevant course dates in full for the course you secure a place on.

It's important to us that those working as counsellors for children and young people reflect pupils in our schools. Our bursaries prioritise funding for under-represented groups in the counselling profession, including:

  • people from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities
  • people with disabilities
  • men
  • care leavers
  • gender-diverse members of the LGBTQIA+ community
  • people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

When completing your application, you’ll be asked to provide information relating to the above categories. It is not mandatory for you to provide this information, but will help support your application if you are from an under-represented group.

Competition for our bursaries is very high. We'll take into consideration lots of different factors when considering your application. Please be aware that being eligible to apply doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be offered a bursary. We're unable to respond to all unsuccessful bursary applicants individually.
