Jared, a Year 8 pupil, was referred to Place2Be after being excluded from school for two weeks due to his disruptive behaviour.

He was being educated in the alternative education building at the end of the school day.

His father had a terminal illness and was no longer living with the family, who had moved to a new location after Jared became involved with gang culture.

He was able to use his brief counselling sessions to start to explore what support he needed and express how he was feeling.

Working with the school, Place2Be has been able to offer ways to support him and the family and the school has decided not to exclude him permanently.

His mother has been put in touch with Place2Be's Parent Counsellor so that they can be supported together.

Jared has started to make small changes in his life and has become much more positive about his future.
