A unique package of mental health awareness training and support for teaching staff.

  • 4 half-day workshops over the course of the academic year
  • Additional 2 confidential consultation sessions

Training themes

  1. Supporting Children's Emotional Wellbeing:
Explore what makes a Mental Health Champion and practise using skills which can enhance empathy with children's experience of their mental health.
  2. Attachment Theory and Neuroscience:
Examine how children form attachments and the importance of this in classroom practise. Consider also key concepts of neuroscience to gain a deeper understanding of what might impact mental health and resilience.
  3. Cognitive Behavioural and Solution-focused Techniques:
Explore the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Learn how to empower children to find their own solutions, build confidence, self-esteem and promote problem solving skills.
  4. Supporting the whole community:
Reflect on the well-being of the whole school community; consider your working relationship with parents and the importance of teacher well-being.

Consultation sessions

Consultation sessions - known as Place2Think - allow participants the chance to review the behaviour of individual children and young people they work with. They provide practical strategies for dealing with challenging or concerning behaviour. Each session lasts around 90 minutes and takes place with a group of up to six participants.
