Little Step Out for Mental Health

May 2022

Activity: walk, run, hop, or scoot

Distance: as many little steps as you can

Lots of little steps can help make a big difference to children’s mental health this May.

From 9 –15 May it’s Mental Health Awareness Week and we’d love for children under 11-years-old to join Team Place2Be and take on as many little steps as you can in our Little Step Out challenge.

There's no limit on how many little steps you can take, or when you decide to take them. Whether you walk it, run it, hop it or scoot it, we invite children of all abilities to join the Little Step Out fun.

However you choose to get involved, each little step you take will contribute to a future where every child has easy access to mental health support.

What to expect when you join Team Place2Be:

  • Your own Little Step Out digital fundraising pack, packed full of tips and ideas
  • A Little Step Out sponsorship form
  • The chance to create your very own unique Little Step Out medal - we will provide a 'Make a Medal' art activity worksheet and Place2Be stickers
  • Support from our dedicated Events Team who will be on hand to help you every little step of the way

Ways you can take on the Little Step Out challenge:

  • Run or walk half a mile a day – you can set up a step-count goal and wear your fastest or coolest shoes every day to get as many little steps as you can
  • Ride your bike or scooter – cycling to school or nursery, or scooting around the park is a super fun way to reach your target
  • Go for a swim – a paddle or a swim could count as little steps even when you're not using your feet
  • Team up with friends – share the challenge with your friends and take on a mile each to reach your target together
