Actress Jenna Coleman becomes ambassador for Place2Be

We are delighted to announce that Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman is our new ambassador.

Yesterday, instead of travelling through time and space, Jenna travelled back to school as part of her new role as our ambassador. The children at Surrey Square Primary School spoke to Jenna about how Place2Be supports them with whatever is on their mind, from friendship worries to feelings about parental separation or loss, so they can feel better and focus on learning.  During her special visit to the school, Jenna was also treated to a special performance by the school's choir.

Place2Be Ambassador Jenna Coleman said:

"I'm very proud to become an ambassador for Place2Be. Having visited the school, I have seen firsthand how vital their work is at very important stages of children's personal growth and development. Offering support on a one to one level and a 'place to talk' and a 'place to be' when sometimes the outside world and simply growing up can be overwhelming is key. I want to help to raise awareness of the charity and hope this will help young people feel confident to talk openly about their feelings and incorporate it in everyday life."

Liz Robinson Surrey Square head teacher said:

"It is wonderful that Jenna Coleman is a new ambassador for Place2Be. She is a great role model for children and our children and staff at Surrey Square were so excited to meet her. We hope that her support will help to raise awareness of Place2Be's vital work and help more children to feel comfortable about talking about their feelings. At Surrey Square our mission is 'personal and academic excellence, everyone, every day' and Place2Be has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this.  Place2Be helps to improve children's emotional resilience, providing them with vital coping strategies which in turn helps them to focus back on their learning."
